Adult Training

Safeguarding Training

The issues facing adult volunteers in keeping young people safe are changing all the time and it is essential that we provide up-to-date training.

It is a requirement for all adults in Scouting to have undertaken ‘approved safeguarding training’ at least every five years and this is monitored at the point of appointment review.

The next face to face sessions are as follows:

First Aid Training

All adults in scouting holding a Leader, Manager or Supporter appointment are required to have a First Aid Qualification.

The First Response Certificate is designed specifically for adults in The Scout Association and Girlguiding, based on the situations and issues that occur within those roles. It is not, therefore, externally recognised. A Certificate must be valid when Wood Badge is issued and appointment renewed.

  • Sunday 2 February 2020 First response at 4th Worcester Park HQ, Braemar Road, Worcester Park, KT4 8SW – Click here to book
  • Sunday 31 May 2020 First response at 2nd Cuddington HQ, Salisbury Road, Worcester Park, Surrey, KT4 7DD – Click here to book
  • Saturday 26 September 2020 First response at 2nd Cuddington HQ, Salisbury Road, Worcester Park, Surrey, KT4 7DD – Click here to book

NB:

  1. If a First Aid at Work Certificate is held then a Scout Association questionnaire is required. This can be found here: FAW Validation Questionnaire

Funding for these courses is usually payable by Scout Groups but if this causes issues please contact Sandra Gosden – DDC (Training) to discuss in confidence.

Safety Training

We believe that the key to successfully improving safety in Scouting lies in enhancing the culture of safety within our Movement.

This applies to those people required to complete ongoing safety training (all those subject to an appointment review). Essentially, this means anyone who holds an appointment except for Scout Active Support Members and Executive Committee Members. This should be completed least every five years and this is monitored at the point of appointment review.
